Second Day

Today we followed a much more relaxed schedule. We started off driving to Long Island to visit Mike's sister Rachel, her husband Juan, and their daughter Velda. They recently purchased their first home and were excited to give us a tour. And I have to say, their home was lovely! Built in the 1920's, it is full of character, but has also been updated in many ways. We spent the day chatting by the fire, playing games and talking. We paused to eat some yummy Colombian food, then took up our positions by the crackling fire once again.

Late in the afternoon, we started back, crossing the Verrazano Bridge in the foggy, misty twilight. After dinner, the kids were busy playing while the adults sat around the dining room table looking through old photo albums and playing a few rounds of Bananagrams. After yesterday's hectic pace, today provided the calm reprieve we all needed before heading back into NYC tomorrow.
