I just want to pick him up out of this photo, kiss his cheeks and tickle his belly until his infectious, gap-toothed smile returns. And because I can't leave you with this sad image, here are some sillier, happier shots from earlier this week.

The Saddest School Picture Ever
Lucas attends a Mother's Day Out program at a local church one day a week. We signed him up so he could socialize with other one year olds, and so that I could work that day and not have to worry about finding childcare. Both his weekly notes and his teachers always tell us what a happy, fun-loving child Lucas is. He smiles easily and loves to play with his friends. But apparently all of his happiness flew out the window a few weeks ago when it was time to take some school pictures. His teachers warned us that he shed quite a few tears at the picture taking process. And they were right. Yesterday we got the proofs from that photo shoot and staring back at me amidst the beautiful spring flowers was the saddest little boy face I'd ever seen. It was like looking into the eyes of Bambi.

Poor little guy. I love it, though. I can relate. Grant has a similar one at that age. He's such a cutie. Grant asked about his "cousins" the other day. we should plan a park day soon.
Oh so sweet! Bless his heart...
He is still the cutest thing ever! I love this pic. of him. He still just looks so sweet and adorable.
