Day Three

Day three of our trip east was all about experiencing a magical Christmas experience for the kids. What could be better to kick that off then a trip to visit Santa at Macy's on 34th street! We walked through a winter wonderland of trees and toys and lights before meeting Santa himself. This wasn't just any old Santa either. It was the Santa from the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. It seemed more special anyway. We followed Santa up with a viewing of the marionette show of Miracle on 34th Street, also at Macy's.

For lunch we found a fantastic burger joint called The Counter. You could build your own burger, toppings, bun, etc. with a wide variety of ingredients. And their sweet potato fries were to die for.

Next up we walked through Bryant Park and over to The American Doll Place. The girls received dolls for their birthday, so we let them pick out an outfit as a Christmas gift from us.They had a blast there looking at everything.

With the girls on a high from the thrill of the doll store, we needed some down time. Saint Patrick's Cathedral provided the perfect respite. We spent a while just resting and wandering around. I had forgotten how peaceful it is. Even in the midst of the busy holiday season.

We planned on ending our day with a trip to Rockefeller Center to see the tree and do some ice skating. The tree viewing is all we managed to do, however because the line to skate was just too long. Plus it was crowded and we were all feeling a bit weary.

We were home by dinner time, and yet again spent the evening hanging out with family. We watched the movie Groundhog's Day, made ornaments and a gingerbread house, and played a few more rounds of Bananagrams.

I hope you are enjoying your week too!
